Choose the right output format for each image

Changing the file extension alone does not truly convert an image. IMGCONV decodes the uploaded image and creates a new file in the selected format, so the result can be used by browsers, design tools, office software and publishing platforms that may not support the original file. The best output format depends on whether you need photography, transparency, broad compatibility or a smaller web asset.

JPG / JPEG
A practical choice for photographs, product images and other detailed pictures with many colors. JPG uses lossy compression, does not preserve transparency and is widely supported by websites, devices and editing applications.
PNG
Useful for logos, interface graphics, screenshots and illustrations that need sharp edges or a transparent background. PNG uses lossless compression, although complex photographs can produce larger files.
WEBP
A modern web format that can provide smaller files than traditional JPG or PNG while supporting both photographic content and transparency. WEBP is a strong default for websites and web applications.
AVIF
A newer, highly efficient format designed for compact web delivery at good visual quality. AVIF can reduce transfer size significantly, but older software may offer less complete support than JPG, PNG or WEBP.

Understand what every resize mode does

Width and height can describe a boundary, an exact canvas or a crop area depending on the selected resize mode. IMGCONV enables only the dimension fields used by that mode and shows a small visual preview, which helps prevent accidental stretching or unexpected empty space.

  • Fit inside box: preserves the original aspect ratio and scales the full image until it fits inside the requested width and height. The result may be narrower or shorter than the box.
  • Exact size: creates the precise requested dimensions by changing width and height independently. Use it only when an exact pixel size matters more than preserving the original proportions.
  • Fill and crop: scales proportionally until the target area is covered, then removes overflow from the center. It is suited to thumbnails, profile images, banners and fixed-ratio layouts.
  • Pad to box: fits the complete image inside an exact canvas and fills the remaining space with the selected background color. It is useful when cropping is not acceptable.

Maximum-width and maximum-height modes only reduce images that exceed the chosen limit, while centered width or height crops remove pixels from two opposite edges. For a predictable batch, choose dimensions that make sense for every selected image.

Advanced mode adds quality, rotation, orientation, trimming, mirroring, metadata and padding controls. Quality affects compressed formats most directly: a higher value usually retains more detail but creates a larger download. Leaving it empty lets the converter use the format default. Automatic orientation reads camera metadata before resizing, while metadata removal can reduce embedded information in the exported copy.

How can I resize an image without stretching it?

Use Fit inside box to preserve the complete image and its aspect ratio. Use Fill and crop when the output must have exact dimensions and trimming the outer edges is acceptable. Avoid Exact size when the source and target aspect ratios differ.

What is the difference between resizing and AI upscaling?

Standard resizing changes pixel dimensions with conventional image processing. AI upscaling uses a dedicated model to enlarge the image by 2×, 3× or 4× while attempting to reconstruct sharper-looking detail. The result still depends on the quality of the source image.

Can I convert multiple images at the same time?
